Extension of closure

Summer really arrived to Ishigaki island now during Golden Week!

Ishigaki city has extended the emergency declaration, we will therefore continue to be closed until May 21st. Please, note that the period of closure might be extended for even longer depending on the situation in Ishigaki.。

To prevent the spread of the virus, it will probably be necessary for us to ask additional questions in regards to your reservation before we can accept. We thank you for your cooperation and understanding.。

Notice of extended closure

This week, winter is back on Ishigaki island! Cold winds blow from the north. How are you all doing?

Coronavirus infections have been confirmed on Ishigaki island. To prevent the spread of the coronavirus we have decided to extend the temporary closure until May 6th. We might be closed for longer depending on how the situation develops.

I look forward to the day when we can all go diving again!
Feel free to contact us at any time, we are still answering emails as usual.

Temporary closure because of COVID-19

To prevent the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) Viking Scuba will be closed until the end of April.

An emergency declaration has been issued by Okinawa prefecture asking travelers to refrain from visiting the islands. Depending on the situation on Ishigaki island and the recommendations from authorities, we might close the shop for longer in order to minimize the spread of the virus.

We will spend our time preparing so that you can enjoy diving in Ishigaki island again once the crisis is over.
Stay safe and healthy! We hope to see you in the near future.

Diving with giant cuttlefishes

The weather was good and we departed for fun dives in Ishigaki island(≧▽≦) We don’t have many guests these days but there’s nothing much to do about it(;^ω^) The diving here is still great☆
Many cuttlefishes had gathered today at the first dive site, but they weren’t laying eggs.

We also met a few green sea turtles. Sometimes if we spend too long with them there isn’t enough time to meet the cuttlefishes(;・∀・)

Many fishes seem to be relaxed in springtime♪♪ Even this lionfish looked sleepy.

We swam slowly over the coral garden.

Lots of stonefish in this area♪ This one was sticking its mouth out of the sand☆ Many divers sit down around here, I hope all guides are checking properly before sitting down (;^ω^)

This one squeezed itself between rocks, the texture is right but the color doesn’t match.

Today, we also saw the squat shrimps shaking their tiny tails♡ Their numbers here have been increasing recently, looks like they are having a party!

I love going diving! I hope it won’t be too long until next time… (;´・ω・)

Long time no seen!

The wind blew gently from the north and the sea around Ishigaki island was calm today(≧▽≦) A friend I last met over 8 years ago came to visit Ishigaki and dived with me☆☆
We departed for Osaki and Nagura for fun dives♪♪ I wonder if some other shop has been feeding the Batfishes at Mash 1, they really swam towards us today(;・∀・)

Lots of beautiful healthy corals in Nagura(*^▽^*)

Lots of blue-green damselfishes swam in small schools over the corals, they hide quickly if you approach(;^ω^)

In Osaki, this green sea turtle was having a nap comfortably on the rocks♪♪ Before, the other day we saw giant cuttlefishes here but some irresponsible guide from another shop must have scared them because we only saw one fleeing in the distance!

Lots of spotted garden eels poked their small heads up from the sand☆

An anemone partner shrimp☆・・

Many travel restrictions in place right now, but Ishigaki’s turqoise ocean isn’t going anywhere~\(^o^)/
