First dives after our winter holiday

The wind blew gently and the sea was calm around Ishigaki island today(≧▽≦) We’re just back after our winter holidays and full of energy! Sadly, both flights and travel plans have been canceled for many because of the coronavirus and the island is pretty quiet even for low season (>_<)
But today we went diving in Osaki and Nagura♪♪ Beautiful corals!

In Osaki, we met a green sea turtle that was so busy eating that it didn’t see us at all (;^ω^)

We also saw giant cuttlefishes\(^o^)/

This scorpionfish was hiding under a rock♪It was looking back at us with big eyes (*’ω’*)

We also saw some cute shrimps☆ Below, a squat shrimp.

And this is an anemone shrimp.

Also found some bubble coral shrimps☆

I hope the virus will get under control soon. This is too sad for so many people that get sick or have their travel plans destroyed (-_-メ)
For now, we’ll bring the boat up for regular maintenance next week and, with a bit of luck, the weather will be good!

Cold but Fun!

This year’s first really cold day in Ishigaki island(゚Д゚;) Luckily, there was less wind today, a big improvement since yesterday! (;^ω^)
We went for fun dives in Ishigaki’s Osaki and Nagura area☆ The giant cuttlefish have started gathering(≧▽≦) There were eight of them there today! Some of them were really huge♪

This one below is laying her eggs inside the coral♪

I found the giant nudibranch again(^O^) It is about as big as my hand, I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a big individual!

We also found a frost nudibranch♪It really looks like it’s sparkling☆

A ribbon eel poked its head out from the sand☆ But it was quite shy and hid quickly(;・∀・)

A bubble coral shrimp in its bubble coral(≧▽≦)

An anemone shrimp♪♪ We can find it at many dive sites around Ishigaki♪

The corals in Nagura bay are really spectacular♡

From tomorrow we’re going on our winter vacation! We’ll rest, have fun and come back with lots of fresh energy ^_^

The ocean is calm again around Ishigaki Island

Calm sea, blue sky, maybe a little bit cold but otherwise great conditions for diving in Ishigaki right now(≧▽≦)
We saw many different types of marine animals and coral species♪

Lots of blue corals too☆

On the sandy bottom, a white-ray shrimp gobies♪ The were struggling a bit with the current today(;・∀・)

A black-ray shrimp goby☆

A flounder, I’ve never seen them smile(;^ω^)

A pair of pipefishes♪

A nudibranch♡ Amazing pattern and colors on this one\(^o^)/

A big lionfish was hiding under a rock☆

A depressed spider crab was sitting on a red sea fan (≧▽≦)

The weather is looking good, maybe we can depart from Kabira tomorrow!

Dolphins!

January went by so quickly, and the end of the month was a bit cold. Thankfully, the wind has now calmed down and we could go diving under the sun (≧▽≦) As we departed I saw that my friend’s boat had stopped – to look at dolphins!\(゜ロ\)(/ロ゜)/ We didn’t get to swim with them but got this photo by putting the camera underwater♪♪

Fun dives in Osaki and Nagura area☆ Corals are looking well!☆

A huge nudibranch~(゚Д゚;) I don’t thin I’ve ever seen one this big before♪♪

A smaller nudibranch was also close by(;・∀・)

There was only one sea turtle on the reef today but it was very relaxed☆

A pipefish♪♪

A tiny Scorpionfish☆ It looked adorable as it shuffled along the bottom(*^▽^*)

The lionfishes often hide between the rocks but this one was out in the open(;^ω^)

From tomorrow the island should start warming up little by little again if you believe the weather forecast♪

Colorful Corals

The wind blew gently over Ishigaki island today. The water temperature is down but it doesn’t feel too cold when the sun is shining(≧▽≦) We went out for fun dives in Osaki and Nagura today☆ The corals were very pretty(*^▽^*)

We went looking for the Sea turtles but they weren’t many around today(/ω\) We just got a quick look at this one taking off ~ww

This big nudibranch has been hanging around the same spot for some time♪It’s big so pretty easy to spot(;^ω^)

The wind will change to the south again tomorrow(`・ω・´) Looking forward to a bit warmer weather♪♪
